New Orleans Survives Tropical Storm Lee

This Labor Day weekend turned out to be extra wet in New Orleans. With showers beginning on Friday, Tropical Storm Lee hit New Orleans by Sunday. The National Hurricane Center claimed Lee’s center was approximately 110 miles west-northwest of New Orleans with winds reaching 45 mph. Thankfully the Grand Victorian and the city did not experience any serious damages beyond flooded streets and debris.

The rain didn’t seem to slow down the Big Easy. The annual gay-pride festival, Southern Decadence, was in full swing including parades and parties, which attracted about 10,000 visitors.

Thank you to all of our dedicated patrons for checking in on us during the storm. You don’t have to worry that you will always have a home in New Orleans at the Grand Victorian!
